Troubleshooting Guide

Unacceptable Print Quality

  • Clean printhead: E-Class - M-Class - I-Class
  • Check label advance roller for labels or other debris and clean if necessary. Also check for gouges or cuts in the roller.
  • Turn up heat in printer driver in small increments.

Ribbon Wrinkle (E-Class Only)

  • Adjust the ribbon tension to match your media width.
  • If having ribbon wrinkle issues with M or I Class printers, please call for assistance.
With the 2 " wide PO label, the ribbon tension should be set to low tension by holding the supply roll of ribbon and turning the tension control knob toward the front of the printer (clockwise if looking at the knob from the left side).
With the standard 4" wide label, the ribbon tension should be set to full tension by holding the supply roll of ribbon and turning the tension control knob toward the back of the printer (counter-clockwise if looking at the knob from the left side).

 

Prints a blank label for every other label:

  • Standard IV bag or Pharmacy labels are 4” Wide x 3” High. The Windows printer driver must be set accordingly. For Windows 98 users - check Page Setup tab to ensure the page is defined as User 4"x 3". For Windows 2000, XP or newer - versions check both Printing Defaults and Printing Preference's Page Setup tab for correct label size.

Print ends abruptly on left side of label but there is space left for print:

  • Both the label and ribbon need to be left-justified as far as possible. Verify the ribbon is inserted completely onto the ribbon spindle.

CPR+ gives the error “Detail band is too large to fit on page”:

  • The label size is incorrectly defined in the printer driver. Standard IV bag or Pharmacy labels are 4” Wide x 3” High. The Windows printer driver must be set accordingly. For Windows 98 users - check Page Setup tab to ensure the page is defined as User 4"x 3". For Windows 2000, XP or newer - versions check both Printing Defaults and Printing Preference's Page Setup tab for correct label size.

Prints partial label and faults or prints consecutive labels out of alignment and occasionally faults:

  • Labels and/or ribbon are possibly loaded incorrectly. Labels and ribbons must be left-justified and correctly loaded. See printer specific pages on this tech support site for pictures of properly loaded printers. Take special note of label/ribbon path and guide positioning.
  • Calibrating the printer may be required. Please contact Southern Imaging Technical Support.
  • Press FEED button to clear error.
